Email Hosting Frequently asked questions (FAQ's)

Find answers to some of the frequently asked questions about Our Service.

Email hosting allows you to send and receive mail from your own professional-looking custom domain name, using a dedicated email hosting service. This differs from free webmail services such as Gmail and Hotmail, which are usually supported by advertising and offer less control.

Email hosting at Middlehaven Hosting is far more flexible than the free alternatives you’ll find online. Our email hosting packages are designed to grow with your business, and allow you to increase your mailbox size at any time. You can effortlessly manage your different email address via our cPanel control panel.

Our Basic Email Hosting package is a great choice for bloggers and day-to-day email users, whereas our Professional Email Hosting package is perfect for demanding business users who require lots of storage and additional email addresses.

POP stands for Post Office Protocol, and was designed as a simple way to access a remote email server. The most recent version is POP 3, and is supported by virtually all email clients and servers.

POP works by downloading your emails from your provider's mail server, and then marking them for deletion there. This means you can only ever read those email messages in that email client, on that computer. You will not be able to access any previously downloaded emails from any other device, or with any other email client, or through webmail.

IMAP stands for Internet Message Access Protocol, and was designed specifically to eliminate the limitations of POP.

IMAP allows you to access your emails from any client, and any device, and webmail login at any time, until you delete them. You are always seeing the same emails, no matter how you access your provider's server.

Since your email is stored on the provider's server and not locally, you may run into email storage limits, when using IMAP.

You can access your emails from within your control panel or via Webmail by going to www.yourdomain/webmail.

You can also setup your favourite email client to receive your emails directly to your device.

Yes, you’ll need a domain name to go with your email hosting. This is one of the real benefits of having a custom email address – it means you no longer need to rely on third party providers with unprofessional looking email address like @hotmail.com or @gmail.com.

You can either use a domain name you already have (it doesn’t matter if it was bought from us or someone else) or you can register a domain name with us.

No, our Email Hosting is for the average business user. We expect customers to be pretty busy with emails, sending out dozens or even hundreds via your domain a day. However, our hosting is not suitable for email marketing.

We recommend you use a third-party email marketing solution (such as MailChimp) which is designed to send out thousands of emails to large mailing lists.
